internet sites on SharePoint
Build an internet site using SharePoint? Do companies actually do that?
They certainly do, including some high profile local and international organisations
- have a look at Ian Morrish's list of SharePoint sites
to get an idea of the range of industry and public sector that trust this product to present their public face. A couple of examples of sites from around the world
include Ferrari, Carlsberg (remember not to put these two together, boys and girls!) and the Auckland supercity Council.
I have helped local companies with internet sites, and am currently working on a complete site redesign for an important Christchurch organisation.
SharePoint 2007 required a fair degree of customisation to create sites adhering to web standards - SharePoint 2010 offers more flexibilty for achieving compliance to the various standards,
and can produce HTML5 public sites.
