Windows SharePoint Services v3.0
WSS for short
If you run Windows Server 2003 in your network, you can install Windows SharePoint Services v3 (WSS) right now. And it doesn't cost a cent to buy, as its a free download from Microsoft!
Using SharePoint Services, you create web sites in which your staff can capture, share and find documents, information, ideas and communications. Even emails can be saved in the sites. This allows all items and information about a topic, for example a project or a campaign, to be stored together, and to be easily discoverable.
Security is built-in to the system, so that you can decide who is allowed to do what in each site.
If you are moving to Office 2007, SharePoint Services closely integrates with the Office programs. Outlook 2007 offers features such as "off-line" access to documents, meaning that you can take a working copy of important documents with you on a laptop out of the office. Any changes you make to these documents can then be easily synchronised back to the master documents stored within SharePoint Services.
There are already a number of ready-made templates that can be used to provided business-focused solutions, and can be extended to match your business's needs. The templates cover such processes as creating a Request For Proposal, and Employee Training Scheduling.
What will it Cost You?
That depends on what you want SharePoint Services to do for your business.
Installing and configuring the SharePoint Services v3 on Windows Server 2003 is a task you can handle if you (or someone in your business) is comfortable with installing server software. Otherwise we can install the software for you for a fixed cost, and will include a small amount of customisation in that cost.
To gain the most benefits, you will need custom information stores and displays - we will work with you in determining your needs, and fulfilling those needs with customisations.
